I thought today we’d take a look at one dress, styled three different ways – a work appropriate version, a fun errand-running version, and a night-on-the-town version. What dress are we using, you ask? This gorgeous one:

Wearing this, you’ll be sure to stick out of the ho-hum boring work outfits you’re probably surrounded with! All of the pieces have a conservative look, but the way they’re paired together really spices them up!

While maintaining polish, a little bit of funkiness is brought in with the addition of the loafers. A retro feel is definitely given off, but in a modern, city-fabulous way.

The thing that really makes this look work is its balance of new and old, modern and traditional. The style of the dress is classic, but the color pumps it up. The shoes play up on its refined feel. The fun clutch and sleek ring, on the other hand, further enhance the modern feel. The complete look is a winner!

I love the rich colors in this outfit – the deep green of the clutch and the dark navy blue of the heels – mixed with the more vibrant green dress. All of this makes for a more classic look, but it definitely still feels modern and fresh.

Sunday Night Nostalgia

For many people, Sunday nights come with much nostalgia…family dinners/barbeques, catching up on some TV, a game night, or, even, racing to finish some work (which may not seem fun at the time, but looking back is perhaps a memory in its own form).

On this Sunday evening, I’m sharing a styling that I think captures some of that nostalgia, but in the best way possible. I’m talking a retro, throwback feel done in a modern way – the right way, in my opinion! Have a peak!

The combination of the navy shorts with the copper, rust shoes is just divine. The necklace hints at that reddish hue found in those heels, and polishes off the blouse perfectly. Can I just say that this just may be the quintessential white blouse? It’s crisp, clean, chic, and so incredibly versatile. I’ve taken it in a more retro direction, tucking it loosely into the fun shorts and pairing it with these particular accessories, but it definitely could be taken in other lovely directions as well. The complete look is much like the blouse itself – simple, yet not one bit boring! Love!

I’m sure this outfit would not only make the wearer feel beautiful and confident, but also give just the right amount of nostalgia – and doesn’t that create happiness (hopefully!)?!

I mean, of course, there is a very limited market for this dress…I think you really would have to be tall and slender to pull it off. That small demographic, unfortunately, does not fit petite-me. That, of course, doesn’t stop me from adoring it!

Dressed up or down, with bold color or neutral accents, with or without a hat, this dress has some great possibilities.

Oh, and did you see the price?! At $178, this dress is one great deal as far as Anthro pricing goes.
