Styling – What do you want styled?

Dear Closet,

“WHAT DO I WEAR?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?”

Your Frustrated Owner (i.e. every woman at some point in her life!)

Sometimes we all buy a piece of clothing because we’ve fallen head over heels in love with it.

And then we take that piece home, and realize there’s a problem.

What in the world do I wear with this????????

Well, I’m here to help. With styling as a unique aspect of The Style Connoisseur, I introduced this feature with the aim of helping you – the readers – by delivering tips and tricks.

Fast forward to now, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how this feature has turned out. I’ve been lucky enough to do everything from styling pieces for everyday wear to creating styling ideas for a bride’s attire. Most of all though, I’m thrilled with how rewarding it is for me to do this feature.

Obviously, in order to maintain this feature, I need your help! Please email me your own styling request – no matter how tiny or how huge – to There are a few things I ask you to include:

  1. the piece you want styled
  2. any preferences as to stores I browse…want me to only use Anthropologie, for example? or, should I use a range of stores, as I see fit? if you have strong preferences or absolutely no preferences, it’s fine….just let me know, please!
  3. whether you want your first name to be used in the post (I completely respect privacy wishes…name, or no name, it doesn’t matter to me!)
  4. any other info you wish to include – anything from your body type (height? problem areas? etc!) to occasion (everyday? special occasion? both?) to the weather (warmth an issue?) to color preferences (hate pink, for example?) to literally anything else you want to share

Start on sending those requests, and many thanks in advance!

*Of course, this “service” is at no cost to you.*

Testimonials (from posted comments by the requestors):

“Wow – I just have to tell you that I personally think you are a genius and you clearly have a real talent for styling things. This was everything I hoped for and more! I already have the black Bretonnes blouse (which I hadn’t even considered) so even better! I can’t thank you enough for your brilliant ideas and all my future styling questions are going straight to you first.

Thanks again!!!”

Thank you so much for putting this fun and helpful post together – it’s definitely a great help to me, and I can’t wait to play around in my closet with some of the ideas you put together! I’m glad you led me to your blog, and I can’t wait to go back and check out all of the older posts too – very cute stuff!

Thanks again! You’re awesome”

– Jan (from post Compeer Styling)

“Wow, this post is amazing! Thank you so much for all of the great ideas! My absolute favorite of your outfit ideas was #3 with the turquoise & grey. I never would have come up with that on my own but those colors would look awesome with the boots!…It was so cool that you even gave me ideas based on what I already own! You’ve definitely convinced me that I need these boots and they would work as a neutral. Now I’ve got to start saving up so I can buy them!

You are really talented at styling and have such a great eye for color. I look forward to reading more of your styling tips and outfit ideas on your blog!”

“Thank you so much. I was so exited I went to anthro today to try all of the looks. I have to say that I love the first one, but the second was also darling. It was so hard to make a desicion but I got the first one and also a cute purple belt to go with it…You are amazing. I would never had thought to try that cardigan.”

– Sawan (from post It’s a Bird Affair…Styling Requests!)

“WOW!!! Thank you so much!! You’ve made me really excited about my new purchase…the set with the white shrug/blue accents and the set with the dress styled as a skirt with yellow and brown accents were my absolute favorites, so unexpected…and I can’t wait to try out all of the looks!”

– Brittany (from post Styling Request: Winged Beauty)

“I never would have been so adventurous, left to my own devices. There were so many elements that I loved: the green bag, the serpentine bag, the boots. Now I have an amazing number of ideas for this dress. Can’t wait to hit the stores! Thanks so much for all the lovely ideas and for doing this so quickly.”

“Serioulsy, I love every option. Now, I need to go narrow it down and purchase before it sells out. Thank you!”

    • I just bought the pink micro pleated midi skirt with the tie around the waist. I am going to wear it to my son’s wedding in September. I didn’t find anything to wear with it! Everything I tried on at Anthro looked dumpy on me. I am 5’4″ tall and have a small waist and wider hips. I loved the way the skirt looked on me. I just felt like I needed something somewhat fitted on top and I need sleeves. The cardigans looked to casual that I tried with it. Do you have any suggestions?

  1. Hi, I was wondering if you could help me style the Rochelle blouse? There are so many things I like about it but I’ve only worn it once with jeans. ( I fear the fit is probably not ideal) I have a professional job. I like to look put together (okay who doesn’t?) but not crazy. I’m 5’2″ and size 2-4. BTW, did you ever get it?

I'd love to hear what you have to say! Go ahead, leave a comment/question/etc! Thanks!
